Based on the 1927 14 horse power Talbot chassis, this van was supplied with a custom built body to accomodate the buyers needs. This enabled the tradesmen of the 1920's and 1930's to have a speedy and versatile means of delivery for their goods.

The actual vehicle on which this model is based, was a van produced by the Clement-Talbot Motor Works of London and was supplied with a custom built body - to accommodate the buyers needs. This van, which provided tradesmen of the 1920's and 1930's with a speedy and versatile vehicle, was similar in body style to the popular but smaller Austin 7 van.

The (Y5-4) 1927 Talbot Van is significant in the Models of Yesteryear range because it heralded the world of the promotional vehicle resulting in increased profits for the company and fun for the collector. The livery on the van was periodically changed, and it was found that collectors would eagerly await each new livery. This saved money on tooling and achieved maximum use from old dies. From then on various types of vans from Ford, Crossley, General Motors, Renault, Mack, Walker and Morris all featured just about every conceivable logo.

Collectors Note: There are millions of these - literally, most of them worth very little because they are so common. As ever there are some which are harder to find and fetch a premium as a result. Look out for Wrights Coal Tar Soap with a dark brown roof and Nestlé's Milk with a black roof.
